Back in the Studio: What to Expect from Laidback Lee Design This Year
By Stephanie Ferrara, Founder
After a restorative break, I’m so excited to say that Laidback Lee Design is officially back in the studio — refreshed, inspired, and ready for what’s shaping up to be a really big year.
Time away always gives me space to reflect. On the business, on design, on how we live in our homes and workplaces, and how those spaces need to support real life — not just look good on a screen. This year feels intentional. Considered. A little bolder, but still grounded in the laidback approach we’re known for.
So, what can you expect from us this year?
A More Streamlined, Collaborative Design Process
We’ve spent time refining how we work behind the scenes so that the experience for our clients feels smoother, clearer and more collaborative than ever.
Expect:
More structured design phases
Clearer timelines and communication
A strong focus on aligning your lifestyle, business or family needs with the design outcome
Whether we’re working on a home, retail space or commercial project, the goal is always the same — design that feels effortless to live or work in, while still being elevated and considered.
Design That Feels Personal (Not Trend-Chasing)
Trends will always influence design, but we’re leaning even harder into timeless foundations with personality layered on top. This year, you’ll see us embracing:
Warm, earthy palettes balanced with soft pastels and muted tones
Textural layering — think natural stone, limewash finishes, timber, boucle, linen and subtle metallic accents
Curves and softness returning through furniture, joinery details and spatial planning
Vintage and character-led pieces mixed with modern forms for depth and longevity
The overall direction? Spaces that feel calm, lived-in and quietly confident — never over-styled, never cold.
Elevated Commercial & Workplace Design
We’re continuing to grow our commercial and workplace portfolio, focusing on spaces that reflect brand identity while still feeling welcoming and human.
More businesses are asking for environments that:
Encourage connection and creativity
Feel premium without being intimidating
Support both collaboration and focus
We love designing offices, studios and retail spaces that feel like an extension of the brand — not just a fit-out.
A Strong Focus on Function (Especially for Families)
As a mum and business owner, functionality is always front of mind. This year we’re continuing to design homes that work hard behind the scenes — smart storage, durable materials, flexible spaces — without compromising on beauty.
Design should support your life, not complicate it.
What This Means for You
If you’re working with Laidback Lee Design this year, you can expect:
Thoughtful, tailored design solutions
Honest guidance and clear direction
A relaxed but professional experience
Spaces that feel timeless, intentional and truly yours
We’re so grateful to our clients — past, present and future — for trusting us with their spaces. This year is about growth, refinement and continuing to create design that feels both elevated and effortless.
We’re back, we’re inspired, and we can’t wait to create with you.
x
