2026 So Far: Big Energy, Clear Direction

This year started with intention. Not the fluffy kind,
the grounded, “we know who we are and where we’re headed” kind.

January rolled straight into full-scope residential projects, renovation planning, furnishing installs, and a few very exciting early concept presentations. We’ve been deep in:

  • Renovation spatial planning

  • Full home furnishing schedules

  • Custom joinery detailing

  • Budget mapping and procurement

  • Site walkthroughs (so many site walkthroughs)

There’s something about the first quarter of the year that feels decisive. Clients are ready. Builders are moving. Timelines are locked in. And we’re right in the thick of it.

At Laidback Lee Design, we’ve been refining our systems behind the scenes too — tightening up our processes, elevating our client journey, and making sure every stage (from consultation to install) feels seamless and supportive.

Because beautiful design is one thing — but clarity and confidence throughout the process? That’s what really changes the experience.

The Projects Setting the Tone

We’re seeing a clear shift in what clients are craving in 2026:

  • Warmer palettes layered with texture

  • Mixed materials (stone, timber, metal — all living together)

  • More considered joinery

  • Homes that feel collected, not styled

  • Comfort over perfection

There’s less interest in trends for the sake of trends — and more interest in longevity.

We’re leaning further into layered neutrals, earthy undertones, and that soft European influence that feels relaxed but refined. The goal? Homes that feel calm but elevated. Practical but beautiful.

Very us.

Business Growth (The Honest Version)

Growth this year isn’t loud. It’s intentional.

We’re focusing on:

  • Working deeply with the right clients

  • Full-scope projects over one-off moments

  • Strengthening builder and supplier relationships

  • Protecting creative energy

As a founder, February always brings reflection. What’s working? What feels aligned? What needs adjusting?

Running a design studio — and a podcast like Laidback Design Chat — means constantly balancing creativity with leadership. There’s motherhood, business decisions, team changes, project pressures… and then there’s the privilege of creating homes people will build their lives in.

It’s layered. It’s full. It’s real.

And I wouldn’t have it any other way.

What’s Coming This Year

Without giving too much away…

  • A few large-scale renovation reveals mid-year

  • More behind-the-scenes design content

  • Refinement of our service offerings

  • A stronger digital presence

  • And some early exploration into product development (yes… that idea is still quietly brewing 👀)

  • Our first internal work trip in March!!! Stay tuned via tiktok and instagram!

We’re thinking more long-term. More brand. More legacy.

February Energy

If January was momentum, February is grounding.

We’re settling into rhythms.
Clarifying timelines.
Deep in documentation.
Finalising selections.
Confirming installs.

It’s not flashy, but it’s foundational.

And foundations matter.

If you’re planning a renovation, furnishing project, or simply feeling ready for your home to feel more “you” this year, now is the time to start the conversation. March and April are already filling quickly.

Thank you for being here, reading along, and supporting Laidback Lee Design in all its layers.

2026 is going to be a beautiful one.
