Interior designer Stephanie Ferrara of Laidback Lee Design was in the middle of moving house when the home’s owner left a message on her phone. It was a few days later when she remembered she had never responded. “In a bit of a panic, I called her back and was so pleasantly surprised,” says Stephanie. “She sounded genuinely open to having someone come in and really shake things up and I felt so motivated to get started straightaway.”

Growing up, Stephanie was heavily influenced by her mother’s work as a fashion designer. She remembers seeing her mum’s drawings, mood boards, and samples around the house, which sparked her own creative aspirations. When it came time to start university, Stephanie knew that a degree in design would allow her to pursue her passion.

Laidback Lee Design was engaged to bring the Girls With Gems brand to life through a thoughtfully curated interior that reflects the business's personality, values, and customer experience.

Our approach focused on creating a space that feels elevated, feminine, and welcoming while showcasing the beauty and craftsmanship of the jewellery collection. Through strategic space planning, material selection, custom detailing, and styling, we designed an environment that enhances the retail experience and strengthens the connection between the brand and its customers.

The interior balances contemporary finishes with refined touches, creating moments of discovery throughout the space. Every design decision was considered through both a functional and brand-led lens, ensuring the store not only operates seamlessly but also provides a memorable and engaging customer journey.
