Designing My Dream Home: A Personal Renovation Journey

Hello, I'm Stephanie Ferrara, founder of Laidback Lee Design. As an interior designer, I've had the privilege of transforming numerous spaces for clients. But now, I'm embarking on the most personal project yet—designing and renovating my own home. This is the largest renovation I've undertaken, and I'm excited to share this journey with you.

The Beginning of the Journey

The decision to renovate our home wasn't made lightly. After years of living in a space that no longer reflected our family's needs and style, we decided it was time for a change. The goal was to create a home that was not only functional but also a true reflection of our personalities and lifestyle.

Embracing the Process

Renovating a home is a complex process that involves careful planning, budgeting, and decision-making. From selecting materials to coordinating with contractors, every step requires attention to detail. As a designer, I have a vision, but translating that vision into reality is both challenging and rewarding.

Design Philosophy

My design philosophy centers around creating spaces that are both beautiful and functional. I believe in the importance of natural light, quality materials, and thoughtful layouts. In this renovation, I'm focusing on open-plan living areas, modern finishes, and sustainable practices.

Overcoming Challenges

No renovation project is without its challenges. From unexpected structural issues to supply delays, we've encountered obstacles along the way. However, each challenge has been an opportunity to learn and adapt. The key is to stay flexible and keep the end goal in mind.

The Journey Continues

While the renovation is still underway, I'm thrilled with the progress we've made. Every day brings us closer to a home that truly feels like ours. I invite you to follow along on this journey, share your thoughts, and perhaps find inspiration for your own projects.
